The World Needs You To Be A Leader! 
Since December 2006, I’ve personally helped hundreds of individuals launch successful podcasts through my one-on-one consulting and coaching.  I have found one common thread among all podcasters who have achieved great success.  They each understood their role, as a leader and they each took that role seriously.

Being a leader is not about holding a certain “position” in an organization.  Having a degree from an institution does not make you a leader!

Leadership is more about how you have chosen to live your life.  Leadership is more about how you think, how you act, how you talk, the tone in your voice, etc.  Leadership means that you understand that you are influencing someone and that you don’t take that responsibility lightly.

One of the reasons that I love working with podcasters so much is due to the fact that they are influencing someone every single time they produce a podcast episode.  The world needs great leaders!  I believe that podcasters who take their leadership position seriously can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

The world needs you and your message!  They need you to be a leader!

Many people ask me how to grow the audience of their podcast.  I believe that one of the best things you can do is to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!  To take yourself seriously!  To consider yourself to be a professional!  

If someone were to ask, “Why should I listen to your podcast?” you should be able to immediately give a thirty second response, with confidence, as to why they should never miss an episode.  I add more subscribers to all my shows by this one method alone!  It’s why I try to accept as many invitations as possible to be a guest on other podcasts.

What Is A Mastermind?
The concept of the mastermind group was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in his book, “Think and Grow Rich.”

In the video below, Hill defines the mastermind by saying that “A group that consists of two or more people, who work in perfect harmony for the attainment of a definite purpose.”

One of my favorite verses from the Bible is Proverbs 15:22 that says: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

Nearly every great achievement that I’ve made personally and professionally can be tied to the reality of the mastermind principle at work in my life.

Napoleon Hill said that there is no such thing as something for nothing. Everything, including your personal success, has a price that must be paid. He suggested that if you want to move forward on a path toward success, he suggested that you do three things:

1) Decide definitely where you wish to be and what you wish to be doing during the next three years.

2) Decide how much money you desire to be making and what you are going to do to earn it.

3) Involve yourself in a mastermind group.

I’ll be the first to tell you that you that you can do all of the above without any financial cost to you whatsoever. Podcast Answer Man – Focused on Podcasting & New Media

Methods

Several methods can be used to get a passport, although much of this can depend on your circumstances. Some types can take up to six weeks, which may not always be an ideal solution for individuals who are in a hurry. Other methods may reduce how long a person has to wait, but it’s not always enough at times. Because of this, some prefer to use expedited processing.

Time Frame

Expedited processing is sometimes used by those who need their documents sooner than what traditional or standard methods can achieve. This usually takes up to 14 to 21 days, give or take, which may not always be fast enough for some circumstances. However, some individuals may choose to have their items shipped overnight, which may help to reduce the wait time.

Appointments

In some cases, individuals may need to set an appointment with an agency in order to get their documents processed sooner than what expedited methods can manage on their own. However, an additional fee will apply in this sense, even on top of any standard and expedited charges. Certain limitations may also apply when in regards to short deadlines, such as for those who need their documents right away.

Private Service

Because not everyone has the time, means, or even patience to visit a facility directly, some will choose to use a service that specializes in dealing with speedy passport processing. The difference between these services and having things expedited on your own is that these companies can usually provide a much faster turnaround time. Although these services may cost more in the scheme of things, most appreciate having a lot of the hassle handled for them.

Choosing A Company

You can usually find plenty of services through search engines or referral-based websites, depending on your overall preference. Either way, it’s a good idea to make sure that a company is legitimate. In order to look into a company, you can also typically find online customer reviews.

24-Hours

Many company websites provide customers with a means to select what type of lost United States pasport replacement they need. Most will also allow them to select options for how soon they need it, which can usually affect the amount of money that one will need to spend. Since the price for delivery can vary on the time frame that one choose, people can usually ask the company for suggestions, especially if they don’t need it within 24 to 48 hours.

Benefits

To begin with, the person who is drinking too much will be removed from their usual surroundings. This will prevent them from turning to alcoholic drinks whenever they get the urge. While this might seem like a very small difference it is the first part of the journey to recovery.

Detoxification

Another way in which individuals are helped by these centers is that they are put on a professional detoxification program. When a person is withdrawing from any substance they have abused, it can be a very unpleasant time for them. By being on a professional detox program, a person will have access to the physical and psychological help that they need during this time.

Communication

Speaking to others who abuse substances, is also a very positive step. A lot of people will find out they have issues that they have never dealt with that are causing them to turn to drink. Councilors can also help the people in rehab come to terms with how they are feeling and how to break the cycle of abusing substances.

Support

The support that individuals in rehab centers receive is round the clock, which is not always the case when a person is in their own home. Whenever a person in rehab starts to feel low, they know that there is someone they can turn to. When a person is at home, they might not always have this kind of help and will turn towards the substance that they have been abusing.

Tailor Made Treatment

Professional rehab centers will also adjust programs to suit individual needs. No one is exactly the same as anyone else and these centers will recognize this. With these tailor made programs a person can learn to live their life without alcoholic drinks and they will feel much more confident about their own success.

Independent Living

Towards the end of an individual’s stay in a alcohol detoxification center, they will start to learn about living on their own once again. They will get help and advice on how they can be successful in their sobriety. They will also be given information on who they can contact if they slip back into their old ways, which unfortunately can happen to some people.

Passport Pages

As a frequent world traveler, you should be keeping close tabs of how many blank sheets you still have and how many you might need on your next trip. When you find yourself with fewer than four blank visa pages, you should apply for your extra blank sheets. Even if you don’t need them immediately, you’ll be glad to have them.

DS-4085

However you request them, you’ll have to complete the DS-4085 federal form. This is the application specifically for requesting additional sheets. You’ll find it on any number of websites and you can download it. Make sure you sign it before submitting your application.

Application Fees

In addition to the federal form, you will also need to include your current passport and the application fee. If you decide to take care of this process on your own, you’ll send your application packet to one of two addresses, depending on how quickly you want your travel book returned to you. The standard turnaround time to get new blank sheets is four to six weeks. If you want the expedited service, you can expect to wait two to three weeks.

Passport Expedition

If you need additional sheets more quickly, you can use any one of a number of private companies that are authorized expediters. By sending your application package to them, they will work with the federal agency to get you your extra sheets as quickly as you want them. The reputable services will all guarantee the speed promised to get your travel documents back to you. So, getting your US passport is easy!.

Private Companies

You decide how quickly you want the private company to get your passport back to you based on how much you are willing to pay. The most expensive service will be for its fastest turnaround time – same day service. The same day service is usually only available if you live in a city where the company is located. Anywhere else, the fastest service is 24 hours. However, you have a number of speed options ranging up to two weeks.

Blank Visa Pages

When you are renewing your passport, the fastest way to get extra pages is to request them in your renewal application. If you know you travel a lot, you don’t have to wait until you’re down to just a few blank pages. As you go through the renewal process, you can ask to get a 52-page book instead of the standard 24 pages.

Application

The form you need is the application. The applications are different for each type, whether it is a renewal, first or replacement passport, or a name change. Once you have that form filled out, you’ll be able to bring it in person or mail it.

Identification

One requirement is that you have two pieces of ID. The first verifies your identity and it can be your driver’s license or old passport, a certificate of naturalization, or government identification. The second type of ID is proof of U. S. Citizenship, which can be your birth certificate, government or military ID. You’ll also need a copy of each type of identification that you mail or bring in.

Photos

You’ll also need color photos of yourself. Two identical copies are required and you must be facing forward with your full face showing. Once you have these and all the required documents, you’ll have to pay a fee. Adults are charged $110 to $140 and it is less for children.

Passport Cards

A passport card can be purchased, too. It looks something like a driver’s license and can be used if you travel often to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, or Bermuda. However, it cannot be used if you are flying to those countries in a plane. The card is smaller and less expensive with fees that are only between $30 and $55, based on various factors.

Expediting

It could be that an emergency has arisen and you need a renewal quickly. In that case, you can expedite the process for an additional $60 fee, plus the cost of two-day postal service. You can bring it in personally but it will have to be mailed back. If you choose to mail it in, it’s advisable to also use two-day delivery, and mark “expedite” on the envelope. It’s also a good idea to opt for mail tracking.

Online Help

There are answers on the Net about what to do if you are traveling officially, how to get proof of citizenship and any other questions you may have. It could be that you want to know about how many visa pages you need or how to get a lost U.S. pass port replacement. All the instructions for how to fill out the applications are also provided online.

When Is It Needed

The first thing to know is why we must have a passport. A passport is necessary when travelling outside the US boarders. Aside from other countries, it is also required when travelling to Canada or Mexico to provide proof of your identity and citizenship. A valid passport will allow a US citizen, including children, to travel outside the “border zone”.

E-Passports

In order to acquire a passport, one needs to go through an application process. The first step is to fill in an application form. This can be found from the US Department of State as well as through online agencies. One can also download the application form from several websites. E-passports have been introduced a few years ago. These contain a computer chip and this chip is embedded in the back cover of the passport, storing the exact information contained on the passport along with a digital photograph. Anti-fraud and security features have been included. For those who still have their old passports, these are still acceptable until their validity period ends.

Who Needs A Passport

You can complete the required form after downloading and printing it. Apart from the website and the US Department State office, you can also apply at the US Post office, libraries and at online passport assistance sites. One thing to remember after filling out the form is to wait for the instruction of an official passport agent to put your signature on it. Never sign without being given the instruction and you signature must be witnessed by an agent.

Primary Documents

Although the form may be filled out online, you should submit the completed form personally to one of the certified passport agencies or facilities. This is applicable to all applicants, even minors. The list of certified facilities and passport agencies can be found online. A primary document is needed to verify a person’s identity and US citizenship. These documents may be in the form of a certified birth certificate or a previous passport.

Secondary Documents

One has to present acceptable proof of identification, ideally a government issued identity card or driver’s license. A combination of documents can be required for approval. Other commonly used documents include credit cards and social security cards.

A Personal Witness

A witness who identifies you may also be presented as a primary form of evidence. This witness must fill out an “affidavit of identifying witness” form in front of a passport renewal agent. This witness will swear to your identity so it must be someone who has known you for at least two years and also must be a US Citizen or permanent resident. You also have to provide a photocopy of your identity card along with passport photographs.

1st Step

Having made the big decision to leave drugs behind and made it through detox, your next move can make all the difference between successfully staying sober and relapsing into old behavior patterns that can lead you straight back to addiction. Withdrawal and detox are painful and unpleasant. You will not want to put yourself through all that again.

Stay Away From The Past

Returning to your old living arrangements, your old haunts, habits and friends is a recipe for disaster. The temptation will be too strong. Moving into a residential care home for recovering addicts places you among others who have just been through a similar experience. They will have the same aims as you, independence and sobriety. You act as each other’s support systems.

Change In Scenery

These programs isolate you from the social and environmental cues that led you into addiction and if you don’t lift yourself right out of that situation, familiar, comfortable influences will have you back into the addicted life. A change of scenery completely immersed in new people and new activities in a safe environment make it easier to turn over a new leaf.

Community

A drug treatment home can offer a supportive network of counselors and help you monitor your progress through alcohol and drug testing. They offer classes in music, art or sports and many other types of hobbies that do not involve taking drugs or abusing alcohol. There are fully equipped gyms, swimming pools and whirlpools.

Community

Drug treatment centers are run by professionals who are trained in counseling, medical detoxification and other emotional and physical aspects that crop up when turning your life completely around by 180 degrees. You get practice and develop confidence in making friends with a new type of people, people who don’t rely on drugs to get through the day. Your old friends have no interest in watching you succeed. Here, you have professionals and peers to act as a safety net.

Your Surroundings

Communal recovery facilities are designed to a high standard in terms of decor, furniture and comfort. Daily activities are strictly regimented. This is not to imprison you but to take some of the mundane decisions and details out of your hands so you can concentrate on where you want to go next and learning how to live without drugs.

How Do I Get Rid of This Hiss Sound?
Tom called in and told us that he had a hiss sound when he talks into his microphone. While I didn’t have enough information to diagnose his problem, I did share how I typically go about troubleshooting such issues. The key is going through, step by step, to rule out problems within each item within the equipment setup.

Kirk called in and said that he’s got an issue where iTunes is pulling in a PDF document that was linked to in the show notes of a recent podcast episode, but the .mp3 file would not come through. In the episode, I share how he can go about fixing this issue.

Where Are They Now Interview
Jason Cabassi does a television show fan podcast called The Waking Dead Cast. The Waking Dead television show is based on one of the most successful and popular comic books of all time, written by Robert Kirkman.

The following description is from the show’s about page: “AMC’s The Walking Dead captures the ongoing human drama following a zombie apocalypse. The series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. However, instead of the zombies, it is the living who remain that truly become the walking dead.”

Jason and his co-host Karen were huge fans of the television series and they had already been enjoying lengthy conversations about the tv show before deciding to podcast about it.

In the early part of our interview, you hear that Jason actually launched his fan podcast several months before the television show actually started. As a result, he thought that he would have the first fan podcast devoted to the show. Jason was shocked, however, to learn that there were already two other Walking Dead podcasts that had already launched before him. I think this is valuable information because, as you hear later in the interview, the fact the he was not the first to market did not keep him from experiencing a tremendous amount of success in getting the actors on to his show, doing something that he’s not able to share due to a non-disclosure agreement, and the potential of actually being on the show in the next season.

I hope that this is a source of inspiration for those of you who became discouraged to learn that there were already a number of podcasts devoted to the niche topic that you wanted to focus on with your podcast. I was about the fifth or sixth LOST podcast out there and that single show led to my currently full-time career in podcasting. So don’t worry about the others in your niche field. Create your unique show and get your voice out there!

An interesting note about Jason is that he is a technical writer by day and he used to work for Apple. He actually wrote the owners manual for the first ever iPod and the iPhone. It was when Apple decided to incorporate podcasting into iTunes that he was first introduced to the world of Podcasting. At first, he was very skeptical of the idea of listening to content created by random people without professional broadcast training. However, it did not take him long at all to find a few shows that were created around topics for which he was passionate about to quickly turn him into a fan of audio podcasts.
