217 Podcast Answer Man – Another Podcaster Experiences Passive Income And Taking Your Show To The Next Level

This episode is a bit shorter than normal due to the fact that I am currently out of town for days on a trip with my family. We left on Friday, June 24th and stopped in Nashville, TN where I will help my friend, Dan Miller, hook up some new podcasting gear that he has purchased for his podcasting studio.

We then traveled to Orlando Florida where our family has spent several days visiting Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks. On Thursday, which should be the day that this episode goes live, we will head toward North Carolina to visit the Biltmore Estate and will wrap up our trip by spending the Fourth of July weekend in the Smokey Mountains.

It’s hard for someone like me to leave my business for ten days. I have already had many people tell me that this is a well deserved trip with all the hard work that I’ve been doing lately. I know that my wife and kids certainly deserve my time, energy and attention that they are getting from me. So I hope you don’t mind this very short episode that I prepared ahead of time for you.

In this episode I discuss the following:

  • Dean’s Ebook Sale Experience
  • Andy’s Edirol Audio Level Question
  • Taking Your Show To The Next Level.
  • Steve’s feedback regarding JewelBeat
  • A reminder about my Podcasting A to Z Course

The MXL 007 Vidcast – Not Just Another USB Mic

Podcast Gear and New Media Audio is HERE! …New Media Gear

MXL 007

MXL 007

The MXL ’stereo’ USB microphone.

I recorded this on Friday and couldn’t decide if this cast warranted video or not. Well, I need the practice folks, so video it is …along with a sample audio file in WAV format.

MXL has worked with me for a long time. More importantly, MXL has made studio quality recording microphones cost efficient for almost any project studio.

At Studio1A, we have been inundated with USB mics. Every manufacturer is jumping on the USB bandwagon, and that’s a good thing. USB, like MXL, has made studio quality recording a reality for anyone with a equipped computer and something to say.

I have tried to feature USB mics with a little something extra and this show fits.

The MXL USB007 offers a very smooth studio sound. As I created the Vidcast, I also created a WAV file in real-time using the 007 so you can hear for yourself.

What makes the 007 different is an X-Y “stereo” pickup (2 mic elements at a 90 degree angle to each other). This creates a nice wide perception for the listener and ads spacial depth to otherwise flat, mono recordings.

Watch the video and listen to the (separate) sample file for a glimpse at this very different mic.

PS: You may notice that the ‘talent’ keeps looking towards the viewfinder instead of the lens.
Yes; it is distracting …and I’ll keep working on it ; )

Best,
MarkJensen
